Five Must-do Activities in Cabo San Lucas.

Cabo San Lucas, commonly called Cabo, is located at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula in sunny Mexico. Magic happens where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean and this natural wonder has both desert cacti and sparkling saltwater. There are endless activities in Cabo for the adventure traveller and just as many relaxing ones for the ultimate dream vacation at a luxurious resort. When the sun goes down, Los Cabo is famous for an exciting and entertaining nightlife. It’s a top destination for celebrities seeking a secluded getaway, and equally as popular among Canadians wanting to escape the winter chill of the north. It’s hard to choose only five activities, so consider these merely a starting point with what you can experience when you visit inspiring Los Cabos.

Go Whale Watching.

Whales belong in the ocean swimming free and the perfect place to see these magnificent creatures is in Los Cabos. Each season the Sea of Cortez is home to several whale species including gray whales, sperm whales, blue whales, and famous orcas. It’s important to remember never to disturb the whales and always watch from a safe distance. The most ideal times to spot them are from December to April.

Drive an ATV Through the Desert.

Cactus ATV Tours is not only the largest off-roading adventure tour company in Los Cabos, but in Latin America. Upon arrival (Cactus tours offers hotel pick up and drop off), choose a side-by-side or four-seater vehicle. Then pick your helmet, goggles, and bandana to cover your face from blowing sand. Pay attention to a quick lesson and safety briefing and get ready to rumble. Not only will you drive up and down sandy desert hills among prickly cacti and dunes, but winding paths takes you along the beach next to the ocean.  This unbelievable experience is sure to get your adrenaline pumping. No prior ATV experience is necessary, but drivers must be at least 16 years old and if under 18 you must be an experienced driver with a license. Passengers can be seven and up, although there is a mini side-by-side vehicle for kids over age 10. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, bring cash for souvenirs and drinks, and ask for Albert upon arrival – tour guide and driver extraordinaire.

Enjoy a Day at the Beach.

The exquisite shores of Mexico are home to turquoise waters, sandy beaches, and endless water sports. Not all beaches in Cabo are safe for swimming due to the dangerous tides of the Pacific Ocean, but there are many beaches to choose from to safely feel the sand between your toes and jump in the waves. The famous Lover’s Beach is 15 minutes from the Marina by boat and also known as Playa del Amante. It’s located on the Sea of Cortez’s side of Land’s End and definitely not just for couples, but suitable for everyone. Another option to get to Lover’s Beach, as it’s not accessible by car or walking, is a fun water taxi ride from Medano Beach. Much busier than Lover’s Beach with nearby shops and restaurants, Medano stretches several kilometres along the shore. Furthermore, should you be at Lover’s Beach and get into an argument with your significant other, you can mention jokingly that Divorce Beach is literally just around the corner.

Have an Evening Massage by the Ocean.

No stuffy spa room here! Secrets Spa by Pevonia offers you a tranquil setting to lay back and let the ocean waves lull you into the ultimate in bliss.  The, Relaxing Moon and Stars Massage, a Swedish massage,  is conducted just a few hundred meters from shore.  Passion fruits and sparkling wine top off this luxurious treat for the mind, body and spirit.

Take a Luxury Sunset Sail.

You really can’t beat sailing along the ocean at sunset. One of the most popular excursions in Cabo is taking a luxury sunset sail. Most trips includes tasty appetizers and specialty cocktails to enjoy as you take in the breathtaking view. Excursions are often small-group tours, limited to 20 people to ensure personal attention from the crew.  A CAA Travel Consultant can offer a wide array of shore and water excursions to meet an array of tastes and budgets, just like this luxury sunset sail. It might very well be the perfect ending to your Los Cabos vacation.

A sunset sail is a beautiful way to cap off a day in Cabo.
