New Years Eve in Ontario – Something for Everyone!
New Years Eve in Ontario has something for everyone regardless how you want to ring in 2019. Here are some great ideas to consider as you usher in the new year.
Nathan Phillips Square (City Hall) – Toronto.
If you live in Toronto or want to come to the big city on NYE, Nathan Phillips Square is a popular option. The festivities begin at 8:00 p.m. with DJ Money Jane and lively musical numbers. The outdoor skating party kicks off at 9:30 with DJ Mel Boogie spinning hip-hop and R & B hits. The fun continues into the evening with a countdown and fireworks display at midnight. Nathan Phillips Square is easily accessible by public transit and there are plenty of downtown hotels to choose from if you plan on staying overnight.
Disco Inferno – Orillia.
Disco Inferno is a rockin’ NYE party in Orillia presented by Best Western and Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre. There are three packages to choose from including the all inclusive accommodation package that includes dinner, dancing, late night snacks, and an over night stay based on double occupancy, so you won’t have to worry about getting home until the next day. The fun starts at 6:00 p.m. so put on your fanciest attire with sequins and bows because there is a prize for best dressed!
Gala Dinner & Dance – Hockley Valley Resort – Mono.
Pack up the car for a road trip to Hockley Valley Resort in the Hills of Headwaters set among Ontario’s gorgeous countryside. This year-round resort destination is hosting a Gala Dinner & Dance with four courses, a party balloon drop, fun snacks and a toast at midnight. They are also hosting a family friendly event with a disco jockey, dancing and bonfire. For a third option, Hockey Valley offers a NYE dinner in the cabin special so you can make it a romantic night in followed by lively dancing in the lounge and bar after dinner. Reservations are required for all events.
Casino Rama – Orillia.
Perhaps you are feeling lucky and want to plan an exciting NYE getaway at Casino Rama in Orillia. Their evening package includes a deluxe suite, car valet, food credit, dinner, party favours, and a New Years Day private brunch. This is one of the more expensive events on this list, but who knows, you may win back what you spend playing the slots. There are over 2,500 slots on the gaming floor that range from traditional reels to progressive jackpots.
Roc’N New Year’s Even Family Bash – Keswick.
If you are looking for a family friendly NYE celebration head to Keswick for their Roc’N New Year’s Even Family Bash. The fun starts at 5:00 p.m. with a DJ, entertainment, arts and crafts, face painting, and a magician. There is an early countdown at 8:00 p.m. for kids with a hot chocolate toast; admission to this event is free. If you want to stay overnight in Keswick you can spend New Years Day tubing in the white frosty snow with tickets to the Terrain Park.
Mariposa Cruises – Toronto.
If you want to ring in the New Year on a boat and are over 19 you can celebrate on Toronto’s gorgeous harbour with a Gala Dinner Cruise aboard Mariposa Cruises. The festive evening includes four hours on board The Northern Spirit and a deluxe dinner buffet, rocking DJ tunes, dancing under the stars, and a toast at midnight. The Northern Spirit is one of the largest passenger vessels in Toronto, fully renovated, and heated so you can stay toasty warm on the water. Boarding starts at 8pm.
Host Your Own Event!
There is no shortage of fun things to do at home if you want to avoid the crowds and mayhem. Host a low-key potluck with family or friends and ask guests to contribute their favourite dish to the party. Consider making it a games night with popular board games or bring in 2019 old-school with a hilarious game of charades. If you have kids a pajama dance party with homemade disco balls or LED lights can be hugely successful. Make your own music list with your top songs from 2018 or watch all the fun happen on television from the comfort of your favourite cozy chair.
However you plan on ringing in 2019 we hope you have a safe and enjoyable evening. Happy New Year!
