Watch the CAA Bike Assist Video Series

CAA is connecting cyclists to more enjoyable and more scenic rides throughout the south central Ontario region.

The new CAA Ontario Bike Assist App will help cyclists plan their trips more quickly and easily as they discover the growing number of fantastic bike routes across the region, like those supported by the Waterfront Regeneration Trust this year on the shores of Lake Erie.

CAA’s free Cycling App includes:

  • CAA route planner to decide your next ride across the province
  • ETA Alert to let your co-riders know that you’ve reached your destination safely and on time
  • Follow your friends as they ride with you through our Friend Follow tool
  • View do-it-yourself videos to help you change a flat tire, fix your breaks and cycle safe
  • Real-time updates about current road conditions

The app is being piloted during the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure (GWTA), from August 11-17, which will highlight over 600 scenic kilometers of the newly expanded trail. The ride began just outside of Windsor, ON, and will end in Fort Erie.

“We really want to broaden how we help cyclists throughout the province. Our new app lets them plan their routes, stay connected to other cyclists and make their rides more enjoyable,” said Anna Halkidis, Manager of Operations, CAA South Central Ontario.

CAA’s Bike Assist will also be accompanying GWTA cyclists to ensure any bike related issues — like flat tires or broken chains — are fixed on the spot.

“With its new app, CAA continues to demonstrate its leadership and innovation in developing excellent tourism products. We are thrilled to have all 1,400 km of waterfront trail easily available to cyclists and other trail users through the app. What better way to pilot the app, than on the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure,” said Marlaine Koehler, Executive Director, Waterfront Regeneration Trust.
