Travel Advisory for CAA Members Concerning Earthquakes in New Zealand.

As a result of the two powerful earthquakes which struck New Zealand recently, the Government of Canada advises travellers to exercise normal security precautions as aftershocks may occur. Power and communication services may be disrupted in affected areas and travellers are advised to follow the advice of local authorities, including evacuation orders.

We encourage our Members to monitor the Government of Canada’s travel advisory site for the most accurate and official travel information to the affected areas.

Due to the recent earthquake, the High Commission of Canada in Wellington is temporarily closed. Canadians who require emergency consular assistance can call the High Commission and follow the instructions, or contact the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa.
