Blast Through Your Holiday Shopping List with These 3 Last-Minute Gift Ideas
With just a few weeks left until Christmas, it’s finally time to stop making excuses and start crossing names off your shopping list. But before you resort to cologne sets, boxes of chocolate or impersonal knick-knacks, have a look at our three favourite last-minute gift ideas.
The (Practical) Gift Basket
The best way to ensure a gift doesn’t look last-minute is to make it appear as though a lot of time was spent on it. Though none of the following items qualify as great gifts on their own, combining them into an attractive gift basket is a great, easy and relatively quick way to show you care. Here are a few practical items that are perfect for bundling:
- Rechargeable batteries & charger – perfect for any home
- Headphones – even $20 pairs are normally better than what come with most MP3 players
- Any “For Dummies” book – very easy to personalize and good for a laugh
- A magazine (or subscription) – also very easy to personalize thanks to Campus Discount
- DVDs – new releases or old favourites work equally as well
- Flash drives – exceptionally handy
- Gift cards – the perfect bundle piece
- Other small accessories
Gift Cards with a Twist
Since the goal is to produce a last-minute gift without making it look last-minute, we’ll need to add an extra kick to your gift card purchase. An easy way to pull this off is to pair a gift card with something it relates to. For example, if you’re picking up a gift card to a book store, pair it with a bookmark you think they’d like. Or if you think your giftee would appreciate a gas card, pair it with a car safety kit or snow scraper.
Pairing the thoughtfulness of a gift with the shopping possibilities of a gift card makes for a great last-minute gift. Here are some other ideas to consider:
- Bottle of wine + LCBO gift certificate
- Phone case + gift card to an electronics store
- Personalized coffee mug + coffee shop gift card
The Gift of CAA
What better gift is there than peace-of-mind? A CAA membership is a practical, thoughtful gift idea that works great on its own or included in any of the bundles mentioned earlier. Your gift recipient will enjoy immediate access to 24/7 Roadside Assistance, exclusive savings opportunities, discounted attraction tickets and so much more. And since we’re in the holiday spirit, we’re also including a FREE Cineplex Admit One movie ticket when you buy!* It’s just our little way of saying “happy holidays.”
