The Rocky Mountaineer Experience
Many Ontarians travel outside of Canada to escape their city lives and experience the sights and sounds of foreign lands, but we often forget that Canada has a lot more to offer than the CN Tower and Rogers Centre. Rich in awe-inspiring landscapes and wildlife, our home and native land deserves just as much thought as any overseas tropical paradise. Rocky Mountaineer specializes in vacation packages that allow Canadians to experience the true diversity and beauty of the great white north. Offering 45 unique vacation packages and four spectacular train trips through British Columbia and Alberta, they are best known for the world-acclaimed two-day, all daylight rail journey through the Canadian Rockies.
Departing from and arriving at a number of Canadian cities out West, passengers have the option of travelling in one of three service tiers: RedLeaf, SilverLeaf and GoldLeaf. The most affordable, RedLeaf, provides roomy reclining seats, large picture windows, food services and live commentary and entertainment from a dedicated Rocky Mountaineer Host. SilverLeaf expands on these features by providing travellers with rotatable seats under a single-level glass domed coach with a 167% larger viewing area than RedLeaf. Suitable for most, the RedLeaf and SilverLeaf levels provide an incredible experience with amazing views and delicious amenities. But for those who want the full experience, GoldLeaf features a full panoramic view from its full-length dome windows, reclining and rotatable seats, full galley kitchen and other luxurious extras.
Renato Cannux, a Travel Consultant at CAA remarked that the GoldLeaf service has the “WOW factor clients were looking for. The train cars have glass domes, and a 5 star gourmet breakfast is served in the restaurant wagon downstairs, and international premium drinks are available at all times – it is white glove service all the way. There are 4 attendants plus full kitchen staff for GoldLeaf Service alone. You also get baggage handling service – you never have to carry or worry about your bags.” The tour takes passengers on a multi-stop excursion through breathtaking scenery and landmarks with impressive hotel accommodations along the way. “[Hotel Rimrock is a] really nice 4 to 4.5 star resort with breathtaking views of the mountains, [and Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is a] really nice 4 to 4.5 star resort with breathtaking views of the mountains” recounted Renato after his 6-day trip from Toronto to Calgary.
Travelling by train through some of Canada’s most beautiful natural formations is an experience no true Canadian should miss out on. Passengers will witness awe-inspiring vistas and benefit from attentive service day after day.
