See the Trip That Left One Husband Speechless on his Birthday

Today’s trip review comes from Lucienne Pouliot Snellings. Lucienne wanted to do something special for her husband Don’s 70th birthday, so she met with a CAA Travel Consultant to plan a unique Extraordinary Explorations vacation just for him. Here’s her story.

To celebrate my husband Don’s 70th birthday, he received an invitation to join me on a river boat cruise for Christmas. He was speechless, besides repeating “oh my God” over and over again. This trip allowed the both of us to cross a few lines off our bucket lists – visiting the landing beaches in Normandy, the Canadian Juno Beach Centre and the Canadian War Cemetery. Don is a real history buff, so needless to say that he was in his glory. Everything was really well organized – flight, transfers, guided tours in Paris, dinner boat cruise on the Seine and the River Boat Cruise itself. We had a wonderful trip.

The Novotel hotel in Paris was so well located. We were within walking distance of many attractions including the Eiffel Tower, and boy did we made the most of it. With the guided tour of Paris, we were familiar with the surroundings and were able to explore and visit our own afterwards. The guide tours were very interesting and well organized. Our cruise manager, Eliane, went over and above. The trip to Juno Beach and the Canadian cemetery and War Museum were the highlight. Don really enjoyed the opportunity to take guided bike tours.

Our CAA trip was very well organized and the guided tours were awesome. Transfers from airport to hotel, tours, then the quai were very efficient leaving us with nothing to worry about. The river boat cruise aboard the AMA Legro was excellent. A really nice way to see things and travel rather than a bus. Would definitely consider another river boat cruise and would certainly recommend it to family and friends. Thank you CAA for organizing this 70th Anniversary “D Day Remembered” package!
