Family Day Frenzy: Things to do This Family Day Weekend.

Family Day is almost here! We know you might be low on funds after holiday shopping and planning March Break for the kids, so CAA is here to help. We want you and your family to have the ultimate Family Day filled with fun activities and we want to help you save some dough at the same time. Whether you’re taking a road trip with the kids or making the most of a staycation, here are a few ideas that are sure to bring the family together for some quality time on Family Day.

A Day at the Museum.

With so many exhibits and galleries at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), there is something for everyone in your family to enjoy. For the outdoorsman and the animal lover, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit is a must-see. And if you like animals of the prehistoric kind, the James and Louise Temerty Galleries of the Age of Dinosaurs features a life-size skeleton of a newly discovered dinosaur. This Family Day weekend, the ROM is hosting a special event called “One World” filled with musical performances, films and special workshops to celebrate Canada’s multicultural landscape. Plus as a CAA Member, you’ll save up to 14% and earn CAA Dollars® when you pre-purchase your ROM tickets online.

Plan a Staycation.

Imagine waking up to a delicious breakfast in bed. Then, imagine heading to the pool for a dip in the afternoon, followed by an in-room movie. Sounds pretty relaxing, right? This Family Day, plan a staycation at one of our hotel partners and ditch your daily routine, even if it’s just for one day. Have a pillow fight, jump on the bed, do everything you don’t get a chance to do at home. It’s all about relaxing and doing nothing at all in order to reconnect with the entire family. Don’t forget to pack some comfy pajamas and to build a blanket fort for a cozy night in. Check out our hotel partners.

Visit a Castle.

We all know magical things happen at castles. This Family Day, take your loved ones to Canada’s majestic castle, Castle Loma. When you buy your tickets online, not only do you avoid the lines and get fast entry, but you also save 10% on your tickets. Tickets include admission, a viewing of the Pellatt documentary and an audio tour of the castle.  On the tour, you’ll get to check out true European elegance through the castle’s decor and design with decorated suites, secret passages, an 800-foot tunnel, towers, stables and more.

Make a Splash.

Bring the family to Fallsview Indoor Waterpark and swim into savings. The park features 16 waterslides, hot springs, a massive wave pool, a splash park for toddlers, the Niagara Tipping Bucket and so much more. A day at the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark is a great chance to escape the cold winter temperatures and enjoy the fun of summer indoors.

Explore Hockey History.

A day at the Hockey Hall of Fame is the perfect way to spend Family Day. This year for a limited-time, the museum features the Toronto Maple Leafs Centennial Exhibit. The exhibit pays homage to the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 100 years as a hockey franchise and showcases its rich history with memorabilia, like the stick used by Tim Horton during game seven of the 1964 Stanley Cup final, Mats Sundin’s jersey from the final game played at Maple Leaf Gardens and so much more. Who knows, you might even bump into one of hockey’s living legends. Plus, the NHL museum has interactive games, iconic photos and more.
