Nothing says, “Rest and relaxation” quite like a spa experience. Maybe it’s the necessary disconnect we need from the stresses of life, or perhaps it’s the simple bonding with a partner or close friends. Whatever the reason, we love a good body, mind and soul pampering.
We’re fortunate Southern Ontario has many beautiful wellness destinations to consider. Whether you’re looking for a casual country setting offering down-to-earth hospitality, or a swanky, ultra-luxury pampering to compliment a chic night out, there is something for every taste and wellness need.
If you’re contemplating a weekend trip or an impromptu getaway with that special someone, we’ve taken the liberty of finding some of the most tried and true spa and wellness destinations in Southern Ontario. 1. Ste. Anne’s Spa, Grafton
Chances are you know someone who has experienced Ste. Anne’s Spa in Grafton, Ontario. Located 90 minutes east of Toronto, this all-inclusive resort has more than survived the test of time; it’s secured itself as one of Ontario’s premiere R&R destinations without needing the glitz and glamour of so many of its urban competitors. This adult-only resort offers guests day or over-night “eclectic country” accommodations and hearty meals while taking in their choice of spa service or wellness class (think yoga and meditation).

Body Blitz Spa sets itself apart because of its selective clientele; it caters only to women. This self-declared “health by water” spa boasts two downtown locations (one east and one west) where a therapeutic system pools, steam rooms and saunas create the ultimate unwinding experience. From a warm Dead Sea salt pool to a cold plunge pool, water therapy never felt this good. Both locations are identical in services.
3. The Spa at White Oaks in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Hailed as one of Ontario’s largest spa facilities, The Spa at White Oaks does not disappoint. Featuring 17 treatment rooms where guests can experience an array of services from oxygen facials and silkpeel microdermabrasion treatments to thermal palm massages and chocolate body wraps, the most difficult task will be deciding which treatment to choose.
4. Miraj Hammam Spa at Shangri La, Toronto
At the height of luxury, enter the Shangri La’s Miraj Hammam Spa. This Moroccan-themed spa welcomes guests to experience old-world-inspired vinotherapie treatments. Found throughout Morocco, “hammams” are similar to Roman baths or Russian banyas, where steam plays an integral role detoxifying and rejuvenating the skin. The spa’s popular Hammam & Gommage treatment combines steam to detoxify before a full body exfoliating scrub. Other exotic treatments include a Crushed Cabernet Scrub, Honey and Wine Body Wrap and fully dressed Thai massage. Sounds divine!
5. Scandinave Spa at Blue Mountain, Collingwood
Located two hours north of Toronto, The Scandinave Spa at Blue Mountain is a truly unique outdoor spa experience. These Nordic-inspired day-spas offer Scandinavian bath experiences, body warming including steam baths, a Finnish sauna and hot baths, and rinses ranging from Nordic Waterfalls to cold-plunge baths. Of course, no trip to the spa is complete without a massage. Choose from a hot stone, sports or a Swedish massage for the ultimate pampering experience.
