Defeating Traffic in the GTHA

If you’re a motorist in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), chances are you think our transportation system could benefit from a tune-up. But what you might not know is that plans to improve our transportation network are already underway. Metrolinx is the government agency responsible for transportation infrastructure in the GTHA and, over the next month or so, they’ll be holding a series of public round-tables to help Ontarians learn about The Big Move.

What is The Big Move? It’s a complete plan for rebuilding and improving transportation infrastructure in the GTHA, and our best hope of tackling gridlock and improving transportation access, integration and efficiency. Whether you drive a car, use public transit, cycle or walk, it will have a profound effect on how you get around your community. The first phase of The Big Move is well underway and $34 billion of local and regional transit projects are proposed for the next phase of development.

There’s a lot on the go and a lot to discuss, so Metrolinx is hosting a Big Conversation about their plan to get the region moving. CAA South Central Ontario strongly supports this initiative and encourages the community to attend these round-tables and lend their support, ideas and voices to the cause.

Interested in taking part?  Attend a Public Round-table meeting to discuss current and future transportation projects in the GTHA.
